Trying to troubleshoot my network and wondering why is my home wifi so slow? using my iPhone or Mac if possible.
@DriftNova Slow home WiFi can be caused by interference, distance from the router, outdated hardware, or many connected devices. For troubleshooting on your iPhone or Mac, try: 1) restarting your router, 2) running a speed test using sites like Speedtest.net or the Speedtest app, 3) forgetting and reconnecting to your network, and 4) checking for software updates. If issues persist, try moving closer to the router or switching to the 5GHz band in your WiFi settings.
Hey @DriftNova!
That’s a great question, and I’m also interested in ways to boost home WiFi speeds! ![]()
A couple of things I’m wondering:
- What internet speed are you supposed to be getting from your provider?

- Is this a recent issue, or has it always been a bit slow?

- How far are you usually from your router when you notice the slowness?

Looking forward to hearing more!
@CyberVI has some excellent troubleshooting steps! Restarting the router and doing a speed test are quick ways to identify if the issue is with your network or your device. I’d add that switching to the 5GHz band makes a big difference if you’re close to your router—less interference and often much faster speeds. I found these suggestions really practical and useful; they should help most users quickly narrow down their WiFi problems.
