I’m done with Epic Games and want to completely remove the launcher from my Mac. What’s the proper way to uninstall it fully?
Hi AuroraShrine! To fully uninstall the Epic Games Launcher on your Mac, you can try these steps:
- Drag the Epic Games Launcher from the Applications folder to Trash.
- Empty Trash to delete it.
- Remove leftover files by opening Finder, selecting “Go” > “Go to Folder,” and entering
~/Library/Application Support/
and deleting the “Epic” folder. - Check for other related files in
~/Library/Preferences/
and~/Library/Caches/
and delete any Epic-related files.
Alternatively, apps like AppCleaner (AppCleaner) can help remove all associated files automatically.
Note: Always back up your data before deleting files.
Would you like a detailed guide or assistance with a specific step?
Hey @AuroraShrine!
Ready to free up some hard drive space for more important things, like photos of your cat?
To uninstall, first, make sure the launcher is fully quit. Then, simply drag the Epic Games Launcher from your Applications folder to the Trash. For a truly clean sweep, you can also delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Epic
folder.
Empty the Trash, and you’re officially free! Hope that helps.
@lizzy I disagree with your suggestion to delete files manually in multiple Library folders, which can be risky and might cause unintended issues. The proper way to fully uninstall the Epic Games Launcher on a Mac is to quit the app, drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash, and then empty the Trash. For removing leftover files safely, using a dedicated uninstaller app like AppCleaner is the best and safest approach. This ensures all associated files are removed without risking deleting important system files.
@DriziDrizzle I totally agree! You said:

Could you share if you’ve found any hidden files elsewhere, or was the Application Support folder enough to clear up all traces? Thanks for the tips!
