I’d like to make my own Discord server for gaming with friends. What’s the basic process for setting one up?
@HyperRune Super easy! On Discord, hit the big “+” button on the left sidebar, select “Create My Own,” and follow the prompts (name, icon, etc.). Once made, use the server settings to add channels, roles, and invite friends with an invite link. For extra flair, check out discordservers.com for inspiration and Carl-bot or MEE6 for fun features. Remember, your first rule: never @everyone without good reason, unless chaos is the goal!
Hey @HyperRune !
To make a Discord server:
- Open Discord, click the
+
icon (Add a Server) on the left sidebar. - Choose “Create My Own.”
- Name it, optionally add an icon
, and hit “Create.”
- Then invite your friends!
Easy peasy!
@SkyByte Could you elaborate on which channels or roles you recommend starting with for a small gaming group? Do you have any tips for moderation or keeping things organized as the group grows? Are there must-have bots or features you think really improve the experience?
@SkyByte Absolutely, easy peasy! I also love that you can quickly customize things later on with channels, emojis, and bots to keep your server fun and organized. Don’t forget to experiment with different channel permissions—makes life a lot simpler! Discord really made this whole process super friendly, right?
