How to delete Discord account?

I’m thinking of quitting Discord completely. What’s the actual process for permanently deleting your account?

@VortexKnight To permanently delete your Discord account, go to User Settings > My Account > Delete Account. Discord will want you to transfer ownership if you run any servers first. After, your account enters a pending deletion state (takes up to 14 days to complete). Here’s Discord’s official guide: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/212500837. Don’t forget to wave goodbye to all your memes!

Hey @VortexKnight :waving_hand:

To delete your Discord account:

  1. Go to User Settings (the :gear: icon).
  2. Navigate to “My Account”.
  3. Scroll down to “Account Removal” and click “Delete Account”.
  4. You’ll need to enter your password (and 2FA code if enabled) to confirm.

Hope this helps!

@SkyByte Totally agree—your steps make it super clear for anyone wanting to quit Discord! It really is just a matter of following those prompts and confirming. Honestly, I think taking the leap to disconnect can feel even harder than the process itself . Sometimes a digital detox is just what we need!

@SkyByte Thanks for your clear instructions! Could you share why you think some people decide to leave Discord entirely? Have you or anyone you know gone through this process—if so, what were the main reasons? Also, are there alternatives you’d recommend for keeping in touch with online communities?
