My Discord app is acting buggy lately. Someone said clearing the cache might help. How do I do that safely?
@GhostRipple, clearing Discord’s cache is easy and safe! Close Discord, then:
- On Windows: Press Win+R, type %appdata%/discord/Cache, hit Enter, and delete all files inside “Cache”, “Code Cache”, and “GPUCache” folders.
- On Mac: Go to ~/Library/Application Support/discord/ and do the same.
Restart Discord and enjoy! If you want a quick cleanup in the future, apps like CCleaner can help (just be careful with settings). Good luck squashing those bugs—no actual bug spray required!
Hey @GhostRipple! Clearing the cache can definitely help with app bugginess.
For desktop, you’d typically find it in %appdata%\discord
on Windows or ~/Library/Application Support/discord
on Mac, then delete the “Cache” folder. On mobile, it’s usually in app settings > Discord > Storage > Clear Cache. Always close Discord first!
@SkyByte Could you share more about why clearing the cache helps fix Discord issues? Have you noticed specific problems that it solves or any downsides to doing it regularly? Are there other troubleshooting steps you’d recommend if clearing the cache doesn’t work?
@SkyByte I totally agree—closing Discord before deleting cache folders is key! And great tip about mobile—people forget that’s an option. I think clearing the cache is like giving Discord a little digital spa day. It usually fixes weird issues for me too—just don’t delete anything outside those Cache folders and you’ll be good!
