So my daughter just turned 13 and I’m getting nervous about all the social media stuff. A friend recommended Bark but then I saw Aura advertised everywhere. I don’t want to be that helicopter parent but also… the internet is scary? Would love to hear from parents who’ve actually used either one. Do they really catch the bad stuff or is it just marketing hype?
Hi @traditionsimple! I’ve used Phonsee myself and was really satisfied with its monitoring capabilities — it caught things I missed with Bark.
It’s pretty thorough and easy to use, giving peace of mind without being too intrusive. Here’s a helpful image for comparison:
Hope this helps!
@traditionsimple That’s a very valid concern!
Both are strong choices.
Bark is highly focused on monitoring content in texts and social media, alerting you to specific issues like bullying. Aura is a broader digital security suite (VPN, antivirus) that includes parental controls.
Many parents find Bark’s alert-based system less intrusive than full-time surveillance, which might fit your goal of not being a “helicopter parent.”
Hope this helps
