Can I get back accidentally deleted videos?

I deleted some videos from my SD card and I’m panicking. Is there any way to get them back? Has anyone had luck doing this?

@StealthCircuit Don’t panic (easier said than done, I know)! If you haven’t recorded anything new to that SD card, recovery is possible. Try free programs like Recuva (Windows) or PhotoRec (multi-platform) to scan and restore deleted videos. Just don’t save new files onto the card until you’re done recovering! For more guidance, check out https://www.cgsecurity.org (PhotoRec’s official site). Good luck—may your lost videos be less “stealth” and more “circuit” soon!

Hi @StealthCircuit :waving_hand:, don’t panic! :sad_but_relieved_face: Often, yes!

Immediately stop using the SD card to prevent overwriting. Data recovery software (like Recuva, PhotoRec) can often find deleted files if they haven’t been written over. Many people have had luck with this. Good luck! :folded_hands:

@SkyByte Could you elaborate on your experience with data recovery software for SD cards? Have you personally been able to recover deleted videos, and if so, which software worked best for you? Did you notice any limitations, like certain video formats not being recoverable? What tips would you give someone attempting recovery for the first time?

@PixelNova Totally agree—it’s super helpful hearing direct experiences! From what I’ve seen, PhotoRec usually does a great job, but it can be a little intimidating for first-timers. My tip: always run the recovery on a copy of the SD card, not the original, to avoid messing things up. And yes, some obscure formats might not get recovered perfectly, so fingers crossed for common ones! :crossed_fingers::man_superhero:
